15h00 - Guided tour to the gardens of the Santar Vila Jardim project by the landscaper Fernando Caruncho

A real “Vila Jardim” with numerous historical gardens relevant to visit: Gardens of Casa dos Condes de Santar e Magalhães, Jardim da Magnólia, Jardim dos Linhares, Jardim Horta Ibérico Nogueira, Jardim da Igreja da Misericórdia, and Jardim of Casa das Fidalgas. Its owners have been the driving force behind the Santar Vila Jardim project, under the guidance of landscaper Fernando Caruncho, which brings together neighboring gardens, that are interconnected, providing a unique route full of charm and surprise.

The Casa dos Condes de Santar e Magalhães dates back to the 19th century and shows distinct phases of construction, the first oldest started by João Gonçalves do Amaral, morgado de Touriz, followed by other phases throughout the 17th and 18th centuries. The garden, to the south of the house, is entirely walled and is organized in levels, said to be of Italian influence, dating from the end of the 17th/18th century, with expansions and remodeling in the 19th and 20th centuries.

With red grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Jaen, Tinta Pinheira, Alfrocheiro Preto, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tinta Roriz, and white grape varieties where Malvasia Fina, Encruzado and Semillon predominate, the Hotel-Parador of Casa da Ínsua has prepared a tasting menu, in a harmonization between chef and oenologist, to create the perfect combination between the wines of their grape varieties and the best that Portuguese gastronomy offers.

09h30 - Guided tour to the Gardens of Casa da Ínsua 

The house was built in the 17th century and rebuilt in 1770/1780. Manuel de Albuquerque (b. 1853) made extensive investments in the house and the estate, having hired the Italian architect Nicola Bigaglia (1841-1908). The south façade of the house faces a large formal garden with boxwood beds, fountains, tanks, trees of different sizes punctuating camellias, magnolias, rhododendrons,... Along rows with monumental boxwoods, flanked by fields, vineyards and orchards, access to the forest where the streets are named after the ladies of the house: Camila de Faria, Laura, Luísa, Maria, Emília...

11h00 - Tasting of Casa da Ínsua products

Casa da Ínsua is at the origin of the much appreciated gourmet products that are today an ex-libris of the hotel.

This tasting promises a complete experience of your senses, including locally produced products such as wines, cheeses and jams. Enjoy the palates of the best products in the region. Whenever possible the tasting will be accompanied by a winemaker.

The Parador Casa da Ínsua by Montebelo Hotel & Resorts stands out for its high gastronomy, with emphasis on the use of endogenous products.

14h45 - Guided tour to the Palace and Gardens of the Counts of Anadia, wine tasting included

The Anadia Palace is located within one of the most notable Portuguese recreational estates. With more than 30ha, in the heart of the city of Mangualde, it maintains the original structure in its entirety. The dimensions are surprising, starting with the imposing palace.

In the Palace of the Counts of Anadia, the splendor of the Baroque architecture can be seen, the organization and experience of an 18th century Family Manor, with points of interest in the 19th century tile panels, the painting collection, porcelain and earthenware, historical costumes.

In the Historical Gardens, it will be possible to get to know the organization of a productive and leisure space, with the Loureiros tunnel, the remarkable trees, the Carreira das Aveleiras, the Exotic Garden and the buildings of the 17th and 18th centuries and the historical landscape, where this is inserted.

In the gardens, the vineyard of the Palace of the Counts of Anadia stands out, 12 hectares fully walled in the center of a city, central element of a historic agricultural garden.

The visit also passes through the Adega Histórica do Palácio, including the tasting of 2 wines, produced there.
